Jim Woessner works fulltime as an artist and part-time as a management consultant. He has degrees in engineering and an MFA from Bennington College. In 1999, he co-founded The Threshold Project, an art-based, educational program for the public schools that encourages abstract thinking and conscious creativity through guided explorations of symbols, words, and images. The tools of Threshold are also used for organization trainings. In 2003, he founded Artists of Issaquah to promote community around art and to help support The Imagine Bus Project.

As a painter, Jim works mostly in acrylics and his work is largely representational. Principal works in the past two years have been commissions of Sausalito houseboats, harbor scenes, and abstract landscapes. Additionally, he creates sculptures from found objects and acrylic resins. His “flying chairs” have been exhibited at the Artisans’ Gallery in Mill Valley, and his paintings have been exhibited at several galleries in the Bay Area. Upcoming shows include the 3rd Annual Artists of Issaquah Show, the 2005 Marin Open Studios, and the 2005 Marinscapes. As a writer, Jim has had numerous poems published in literary magazines, and two of his plays performed in Bay Area community theatres.
