Jim Woessner is a former corporate executive and recovering nuclear engineer who found his way to an MFA and careers in art and teaching. He still does some consulting in the so-called “real” business world, and also interacts with businesses through his Threshold Workshops. That’s where he helps participants transform their relationships to creativity, solve problems, and learn to access their “conceptual minds.” The website is www.thresholdworkshops.com. Jim also facilitates the Bridgeway Artists, a salon for professional artists who are looking for an edge in their work; he teaches a program for students on the intersection of art and science, and he is the founder and an active participant in the Artists of Issaquah (AOI).

Jim’s sculptures and paintings have appeared in numerous Bay Area shows, including the Sausalito Art Festival. Check out his artwork at www.jdw-artworks.com. His eclectic work mirrors his philosophy that art is primarily about change and movement—spiritual, emotional, intellectual, kinesthetic, psychological, or a combination. “Art is a response to the imagination, which is something that can never be allowed to stagnate.” So the appearance of style in his work varies or appears to vary from one group of pieces to another, sometimes from one week to another. Jim works mostly in oils and acrylics as a representational painter, but in the last few years has discovered an passion for mixed-media sculpture in wood, clay, metal, and found objects. Recently, he also completed two outdoor installations in aluminum and one in wood for waterfront homes. Jim lives and works in the houseboat Casa de Amor with his partner Paro on the Sausalito waterfront near San Francisco, California.
